The not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened podcast, known for its unique and no-holds-barred approach to democratising diabetes care and education, is proudly now available on the innovative LiSTN mobile app and audio aggregator. Hosting content from a respected group of media brands, live radio, news and other quality homegrown South African podcasts, the LiSTN mobile app will help the not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened podcast team to expand their reach and accessibility to an even broader audience.

LiSTN Audio App is free to download and use on iOS and Android, and no sign-up or sign-in is required. This means that anyone can access it anytime. Long-time and new listeners get an exceptional, personalised experience.

The hosts of the not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened podcast are specialist physician Dr Stan Landau, and diabetes specialist nurse, Michael Brown, who together share nearly 50 years’ experience in team-based and person-centred diabetes care, education and research. Together with a variety of studio guests, they meet real people, discuss their real issues and stories, and together discover real answers to many vexing practical issues in diabetes experience and care. we try to address this massive community need with a free, inclusive service who are hungry for credible health and self-care guidance.

Who is the audience for not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened?

Any person affected by or involved in diabetes and its care. Access to high-quality guidance in the approach to the care and self-management of diabetes is sorely lacking – not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened exists to address this massive community need with a free, inclusive service.

The not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened Mission

In the podcast, Stan and Michael reflect on the many facets of diabetes experience and its management, with the primary aim to build bridges of shared insights between people with diabetes and the healthcare professionals that facilitate their care. Nothing is off the table!

Together with a variety of community and health professional studio guests, the not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened hosts meet real people, discuss their real issues and stories, and together discover real answers to many vexing practical issues in diabetes experience and care. No question or topic is ‘off-limits’ – they are there to challenge the status quo, and the myths, misconceptions and inadequate care that characterise the experience of living with diabetes and related chronic health challenges. They believe that we can and should do better!

Where applicable and possible, not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened draws in people who work in pharmaceutical and diagnostics companies, medical funding and in policy making, to offer deeper insights or to answer challenging questions.

‘Nothing about us without us’!

The lived experience of people with diabetes is critical in understanding this chronic condition and in crafting appropriate community-based preventative care and education. not ARTIFICIALLY Sweetened encourages audience interaction by drawing a wide variety of studio guests from the South African and global community, and by encouraging participation in weekly listener questions and polls to shape the show direction.
